sunday night was the 19th annual BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS fundraiser called "broadway bares." it's a sexy, variety and burlesque show featuring the best of broadway dancers, and a few stars.
this year included appearances by allison janney (the west wing, away we go), sutton foster (shrek: the musical, flight of the conchords), and mo rocca (VH1 best week ever, NPR wait wait, dont tell me). i volunteered backstage and was fortunate enough to see mo sans shirt. not bad!
the fleshy event raised a whopping $808,819, which all goes to broadway cares/EFA! a great success, but still down from last year's $874,372. is it the economy? people just don't have the extra cash to donate to such a great cause?
my feeling is, if you don't have the money to donate to your favorite cause (children, animals, cancer research), find a way to donate your time!
